Project EXCEL is a community - based prevention and education program that serves deserving children and their families in Metropolitan Atlanta in United States. The goal of this program is enhance academic productivity and life skills of youth in order to reduce the incidence of school failure, problem behavior, school drop out, and incarceration.
Program components:
All of project EXCEL's programs are administered by our staff and consultants who are experienced in youth and human services. We provide:
Tutoring
- Individual and group tutoring
- Assistance with homework completion
- Special projects and standardized tests (SSAT, SAT, ACT, PSAT, and GED classes)
Mentoring
- Individual and group mentoring
- All mentors complete training and background checks
Youth Leadership Training
- Career exploration and life skills training
- Communication and decision making skills
- Problem solving and conflict resolution
- Opportunity for students to become peer mentors and/or tutors
- Community service learning projects
Prevention Education
- Focusing on prevention of youth violence, use of illegal drugs, teen pregnancy, HIV/AIDS, and suicide.
Community Involvement Project EXCEL participants are actively involved in community and civic projects such as Hands On Atlanta, The Food Bank, Hosea Feed The Hungry and more. We believe in the philosophy that people help themselves when they help others.
How you can help:
Project EXCEL is always seeking volunteers and financial support. Volunteers are always needed to assist in tutoring, mentoring, workshop facilitation, etc. All volunteers must complete application and training. If you would like to volunteer, please contact us.
