Project W.A.T.C.H.

Project W.A.T.C.H.  (Women Access To Care & Housing)  provides housing and support services such as counseling, child care, job training, and life skills training to homeless and low–income women and children in Metro Atlanta, Georgia

 

Project W.A.T.C.H. Housing Program is designed to provide low-moderate income and homeless women and children with a safe environment with the programs and services that will direct them toward self-sufficiency and independence. A vital part of the program is teaching financial management and responsibility.  Women and children accepted into the program should have little or no income or skills that will enable them to find employment.  The basic Eligibility Criteria are outlined below:

Assessment Criteria

  • Homeless/Low-moderate income single women ages 18-61 (infants/toddlers/youth under 13 years old)

  • Homeless/Low-moderate income pregnant women (infants/toddlers/youth under 13 years old)

  • Motivation and willingness

  • Employable

Drug & Alcohol History

Eligible if:

  • Willing to remain sober

  • Committed to working a recovery program

Mental Health History

Eligible if:

  • Mental Health assessment within the last six months

  • Compliant with medication, verified with letter from doctor

Criminal Background History

All potential participants must be willing to undergo a criminal background check paid for by Africa ’s Children’s Fund. Appropriateness for PWATCH program is determined on a case by case basis.

Criteria for Rooms Available

PWATCH Housing facility has two and three bedrooms located in an apartment complex with full bathrooms, a kitchen, living room, dining room. A laundry room is located on the property to be shared as common space.

Documents Required

The client should bring the following documents with them to the Orientation session:

  • Birth certificate

  • Photo ID (driver's license or State of Georgia ID )

  • Social Security card or letter from Social Security office

  • Proof of income

  • Substance Abuse Assessment (when applicable)

  • Mental Health Assessment (when applicable)

  • Verification of homelessness on referring agency letterhead stating length of and reason for homelessness

Clients must be informed by the contact person at the referring agency that a drug screen may be given at orientation.

  • If the client fails the drug screen she is unable to continue with the referral process, and may reapply in six months.

  • If the client passes the drug screen, the Intake is completed.
